About the Artist
As a young child, Shannon was encouraged to
try many different forms of arts and crafts. She always excelled at these many
different mediums, but it wasn't until she first picked up some sterling silver
wire and polished stones that her true calling came into focus. The pieces she creates are truly inspired from the natural world and the
inherent beauty of the stones she creates with. Her goal is to showcase the
unique qualities of the stones versus hiding them behind hard mass produced
settings.
In addition to nature, Shannon also takes
special inspiration from her Grandfather 'Doc'. Doc was always a natural spirit
who enjoyed all things outdoors and was quite the artist himself, excelling at
wood carving and photography. Doc is the one who coined her nickname of
'Stormy' - after Hurricane Alycia (Shannon's middle name is Alycia). Doc passed
away several years ago, but has always remained a strong inspiration for her.
Shannon currently resides in Texas with her
wonderful husband and their four amazing dogs (two Rescue Labs and two Border
Collies). They enjoy spending time outdoors with their dogs, camping and
attending dog agility competitions throughout Texas. They also enjoy spending
time in the mountains of Southern Colorado, the beaches of Florida and scuba
diving every chance they get.
